This Privacy Policy explains how Grit Studios ("we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use Echoes: Gratitude Garden ("Echoes", the "App"). Echoes is a gratitude journaling app for iPhone. A morning entry plants a seed, an evening entry helps it grow, and over the days your entries grow into a garden. Oli, a small turnip companion, asks the daily questions, a monthly check helps you see how life is going month to month, and past entries sometimes come back to you as "echoes".
Grit Studios is based in Finland. We follow the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Finnish data protection law.

Your entries, your garden, your monthly checks, your notes, and your settings are saved in the App's local storage on your iPhone. They are never sent to us. Echoes has no account, no anonymous ID, and no backend server of its own, so we have no way to access this information.
Nothing. Echoes does not include analytics, crash reporting, advertising, or tracking, and it does not use third-party SDKs that collect data. We do not sell or share any data, because we don't have any.
Echoes uses Expo's update service (EAS Update, operated by Expo / 650 Industries, Inc.) to download small updates to the App. When the App checks for an update, your device contacts Expo's servers (u.expo.dev) and sends the standard technical information needed to deliver the update, such as the app version, runtime version, and platform, along with the IP address that is part of any internet request. It never sends anything you write in Echoes.
Expo acts as a service provider for this. You can read more in Expo's privacy policy.
Echoes can remind you in the morning and evening. These reminders are local notifications scheduled on your iPhone. The App asks iOS for permission to show notifications, but no push token is created or sent anywhere. You can change or turn off reminders in the App's Settings, or in iOS Settings > Notifications > Echoes.
Deleting the App deletes all of your Echoes data from your phone, permanently. We don't keep a copy, so we can't restore it afterwards.
Your Echoes data is included in your normal iPhone backup. If you set up a new iPhone from an iCloud or computer backup, your Echoes data usually comes along with it. Otherwise it can't be transferred, because we have no copy. Backups are handled by Apple under your own backup settings.
As a user in the European Union, you have the right to:
To be honest about it: because we hold no personal data about Echoes users, there is usually nothing for us to access, correct, or delete. Your journal lives on your iPhone, and you are in full control of it there. You are still always welcome to contact us at [email protected] with any question or request.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Finnish Data Protection Ombudsman (Tietosuojavaltuutetun toimisto) if you believe your data protection rights have been violated.
Echoes is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, including children, since the App collects no personal data at all.
Echoes is a journaling tool. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and it is not a substitute for professional care. If you are struggling, please reach out to a healthcare professional.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page and update the "Last updated" date.
